Everton’s season ended in frustration and anger after a dismal 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day condemned David Moyes’ side to a disappointing 13th-place finish.

Joao Palhinha struck shortly before half-time to hand Spurs the victory they desperately needed to secure survival, while Everton limped to the end of a campaign that had once promised so much more.

Back in March, the Blues were firmly in the conversation for European qualification, but seven games without a win to close the season saw those hopes disappear completely.

Supporters were left furious by another lifeless display, with criticism aimed heavily at Moyes and his team selection. Many fans could not understand why the manager persisted with the same struggling players despite Everton’s dreadful run of form.

The defeat also handed Tottenham the easiest route imaginable to safety, something that only added to the frustration among travelling supporters in London.

“Everyone is absolutely furious with how we’ve thrown away the end of this season, and rightly so,” wrote one Everton supporter after the match.

Questions are now being asked about Moyes’ future despite suggestions from the board that he will remain in charge next season.

For many Evertonians, however, the collapse in form over the final two months has left serious doubts about the club’s direction moving forward.
