Leicester City supporters have voiced strong opposition to the prospect of Russell Martin becoming the club’s next manager after fresh reports linked the former Rangers boss with the vacancy at the King Power Stadium.
Martin, who was dismissed by Rangers in October after just 17 matches in charge, has once again emerged as a candidate for the Leicester job.
The 40-year-old was previously linked with the Foxes following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s departure last summer and was also reportedly considered earlier this year after Marti Cifuentes left his role.
According to reports from journalist Alan Nixon, Leicester have made what is believed to be a final and lucrative offer in an attempt to persuade Martin to take charge.
However, the news has been met with considerable scepticism from sections of the fanbase, many of whom fear the club could be heading in the wrong direction.
Supporters have taken to social media to express their concerns, with some questioning whether Martin possesses the qualities required to guide Leicester back to the Premier League following a disappointing campaign.
One fan wrote: “To me if that happens, club are moving backwards and not learning from their mistakes.”
Another supporter, Neal Dunn, said: “He might be on Rudkin’s radar but Russell isn’t who Leicester fans want to see as manager.
The club needs someone to organise and show the authority needed to get this club back on its feet! Tony Pullis has said the same and to be honest, I’d give him or someone similar the job!”
