West Ham United are preparing for a summer of significant change as they gear up for life back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League.
After spending 14 consecutive years in the top flight, the Hammers assembled a squad packed with Premier League and European-level talent.

However, the financial realities of the second tier mean player sales are inevitable. Reports from The Athletic suggested shortly after relegation that the club must raise around £150 million this summer.
One player expected to attract serious interest is Mateus Fernandes. Despite suffering back-to-back relegations with Southampton and West Ham, the 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder emerged with his reputation intact.
Regarded as one of the club’s most valuable assets, Fernandes has reportedly been valued at £80 million.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham are considering a move for Troyes midfielder Martin Adeline as a potential replacement.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a remarkable campaign, registering 11 goals and 13 assists across all competitions while helping Troyes secure the Ligue 2 title and promotion.
West Ham supporter Joe Davis believes Adeline could be the ideal successor.
“I’ve had a little look at Adeline since we got linked with him. As far as Fernandes replacements go, we aren’t going to get anyone close to his quality, but from what I’ve seen, he looks really good,” he said.
With youth, creativity and proven productivity, Adeline could provide the quality West Ham need as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.
