Jamie Vardy has ended any lingering hopes of a sensational return to Leicester City after making it clear that his playing days at the club are firmly behind him.
The striker brought the curtain down on a remarkable 13-year spell at the King Power Stadium in the summer of 2025, leaving as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.

His departure marked the end of an era, with Vardy seeking a fresh challenge abroad after helping to shape Leicester’s modern identity.
The former England international moved to Italian side US Cremonese on a one-year deal. However, his time in Lombardy proved short-lived as the club suffered relegation from Serie A, leaving Vardy set to become a free agent once his contract expires this month.
Despite speculation linking him with an emotional return to Leicester, as well as a possible move to boyhood club Sheffield Wednesday, Vardy has dismissed any suggestion of a Foxes comeback.
“asked by presenter and City fan Manish Bhasin if he would consider returning for a “homecoming” at Leicester. Vardy replied: “Nah that’s gone. I’ll always support them and follow them, that’s the best thing I can do now.”
The comments will come as a disappointment to many Leicester supporters, who still regard Vardy as the club’s greatest modern-day hero.
Having won the Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield while scoring 200 goals, his legacy remains untouchable, even if his Leicester story is now officially over.
