Breaking 🚨: The EFL Trophy group stage has been drawn — these are the teams Leicester City will face!

Leicester City have discovered their opponents for the group stage of the 2026/27 EFL Trophy following the latest draw, with the Foxes set to take on Walsall, Stevenage and a Premier League Under-21 side yet to be confirmed.

The draw places Russell Martin’s side in what looks to be a competitive group, with both Walsall and Stevenage expected to provide stern tests as Leicester begin their campaign in the competition.

The identity of the invited Premier League academy side will be confirmed when the remaining Under-21 teams are allocated later this week.

The EFL has confirmed that 16 Category One academy teams will once again participate in the tournament alongside clubs from League One and League Two.

For Leicester, the competition offers an opportunity to build momentum during the early months of the season while also giving younger players valuable first-team experience.

The Foxes have regularly competed in the competition with their academy sides in previous years and know the demands of the tournament well.

Stevenage arrive as a side with a strong recent record in the competition, while Walsall have also enjoyed productive EFL Trophy campaigns in recent seasons.

Fixture dates and kick-off times will be announced in due course, but Leicester supporters can already begin looking forward to a series of intriguing group-stage encounters as the road to Wembley gets underway.
