Abdul Fatawu is set to complete a move to West Ham United from Leicester City after the two clubs reached an agreement on the deal yesterday.

The transfer represents a significant piece of business for Leicester, with the fee making it the second-most expensive sale in League One history.

While the financial details have yet to be officially disclosed, the deal is seen as a major boost for the Foxes as they continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Fatawu had made it clear that he was keen on the switch to the London Stadium, meaning personal terms were never expected to be a stumbling block.

The Ghana international is understood to have agreed the framework of his contract, clearing the way for the transfer to move swiftly towards completion.

The 22-year-old is now expected to undergo his medical in the United States on Monday, where West Ham are currently based as part of their pre-season preparations.

Provided there are no unexpected issues, the winger will then put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Hammers.

West Ham believe Fatawu’s pace, direct running and attacking flair will add another dimension to their forward line, while Leicester will use the funds generated from the sale to strengthen other areas of the squad before the transfer window closes.

An official announcement is expected once the medical has been successfully completed.
