Leicester City’s preparations for the 2026/27 campaign officially get underway today as Russell Martin welcomes his players back to Seagrave for the opening day of pre-season training.
It marks the beginning of a fresh chapter at the King Power Stadium, with Martin finally getting the chance to assess his squad in person after being appointed as the club’s new manager earlier this month.
The Foxes are aiming to bounce back immediately, but plenty of work lies ahead both on and off the pitch.
Several first-team stars are expected to report for duty today, including Oliver Skipp, Kasey McAteer, Stephy Mavididi, and Patson Daka, while players involved in recent international fixtures are likely to return later following an extended break.

Martin has already made it clear that standards will be set from day one. The new Leicester boss recently spoke about building strong relationships, demanding high levels every day and creating a team supporters can believe in.
Reports have also revealed that several players spent part of their summer working on personalised fitness programmes to ensure they returned in top condition.
The transfer window is expected to dominate the coming weeks. Leicester are preparing for significant changes, with departures anticipated as the squad is reshaped to suit Martin’s style of football.

At the same time, new signings are expected to arrive as the club looks to strengthen key areas before the new League One season begins.
For supporters, today represents far more than the start of pre-season. It is the first step in Leicester City’s rebuild under Russell Martin, with optimism growing that a new identity can be formed and the foundations laid for an immediate push back towards the Championship.
