BREAKING 🚨: EFL confirms the date and kick-off time for Leicester City’s first Carabao Cup match β€” here’s when the Foxes will begin their campaign.

The countdown to the new season has officially begun after the date for Northampton Town’s Carabao Cup first-round clash against Leicester City was confirmed.

The opening fixture of the 2026/27 campaign will see the Cobblers travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday, August 8, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. It will be the first competitive outing of the season for both clubs as they look to make a positive start.

Supporters planning to attend the tie will have to wait a little longer for ticket information, with full details set to be released by the clubs in due course.

The fixture also comes as the English Football League and its broadcast partner, Sky Sports, revealed the first round of television selections for the new campaign.

Northampton Town supporters can make their early-season plans without concern, as none of the club’s fixtures have been selected for live television in the opening batch.

As a result, there will be no changes to the dates or kick-off times of any Cobblers matches scheduled up to and including the weekend of October 3 and 4.

The EFL has also confirmed that the next round of broadcast selections, covering league fixtures through to the weekend of January 9, will be announced by July 31.

Attention will now turn to the opening weekend, with both clubs eager to begin the new season on the right note in the Carabao Cup.
