AdminLeicester City head coach Russell Martin has spoken highly of young midfielder Louis Page while making it clear that the club have no intention of allowing him to leave unless a deal arrives that suits everyone involved.
Page has attracted attention with his performances, but Martin appears keen to keep the youngster within his squad as Leicester prepare for the new campaign.
The Leicester boss also revealed an interesting connection with Manchester United’s director of football, having worked with him during his time at Southampton.
However, Martin joked that he has deliberately avoided speaking directly with Page about the situation, believing the youngster already knows exactly what his response would be.
Martin said:
‘Louis is a really fantastic young player. Obviously, I know the director of football at Manchester United very well after spending some time with Southampton.
So we haven’t actually spoken with Louis because he probably knows what I’d say to him and tell him to go away.
But no, until something comes in that is really brilliant for the club, the player, and everyone is happy, then Louis stays, and he’s in the squad’
The comments underline Martin’s stance on Page’s future. Unless a proposal arrives that Leicester consider exceptional and beneficial to all parties, the talented youngster is expected to remain at the club and compete for his place in Martin’s plans.
