Jayden Joseph believes Leicester City have plenty more to offer after their frustrating 1-1 draw against Notts County in their League One opener on Saturday.

The Foxes made a disappointing start at Meadow Lane, surrendering a lead as the hosts fought back to claim a point.

Joseph enjoyed an impressive first league start for the club, scoring Leicester’s opening goal of the season after a cut-back from Sammy Braybrooke.

However, County created several clear opportunities and could have taken all three points, while Leicester also had chances through Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Joseph, who impressed alongside Will Alves and Braybrooke, insists Leicester will improve as the campaign progresses.

“Obviously it’s the first game of the season, we’re getting into it,” he said.

“I know it’s not an excuse, but I feel like we just need to keep working on it as a group.”

He added: “Everyone wants to win so it’s disappointing not holding onto the lead, it’s just one of them things.

“The overall game, this is not our finished product. The fans and everyone will see a lot more from us in the upcoming weeks.”

Joseph’s performance was capped by a composed finish. He collected the ball from Braybrooke’s cut-back before firing beyond James Belshaw shortly after seeing an earlier effort blocked.

“I saw Sammy on the edge of the box and the gap, so I thought, why not? And it paid off,” he explained.

“I trust myself and when the opportunity arises, I’m going to take it and that’s what I tried to do today.”
