Unai Emery has praised his Aston Villa players after another important result, but the Spanish manager was quick to stress that the hard work cannot stop there.
Emery spoke positively about the attitude and commitment shown by his squad, admitting that he was delighted with what he saw while reminding his players that they have a responsibility to maintain the standards expected at Villa.
The Villa boss believes the experienced members of the squad have an especially important role to play in helping the younger players understand what is required to compete at the highest level.
Emery wants those senior figures to lead by example and ensure the standards within the dressing room remain high.
Reflecting on the occasion, Emery said:

“I am so, so happy today and thankful. The players and I have a responsibility. The older players need to guide to keep our standard high, to show everybody that this is the only way to achieve our targets.”
The message from Emery is clear: Villa’s ambitions will require consistency, discipline and collective responsibility.
The manager knows there will be difficult moments throughout the campaign, but he is determined to build a squad capable of responding to those challenges.
With experienced players expected to guide the next generation, Emery believes maintaining those standards could prove crucial as Villa continue their pursuit of their targets this season.
