Leicester City’s reported sale has raised more questions than answers, with no official confirmation from the club regarding the identity of potential buyers or the progress of any takeover.
Sky Sports and BBC Sport have reported that King Power has put Leicester up for sale, while Leicestershire Live previously reported that the ownership group had instructed investment bank Citigroup to find buyers and market the club for more than £200 million.
However, there remains little publicly available information from Leicester themselves. Reports have centred on a sales brochure being circulated to potential investors, but the identities of those parties remain unclear.
Indian businessman Neil Lal is the only prospective buyer to have publicly expressed an interest in purchasing the club.
According to reports, Lal contacted Leicester directly rather than following the established channels, although there has been no confirmation regarding the club’s response.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that September 14 was the deadline for prospective buyers to submit takeover offers. Yet, there has still been no official update from Leicester confirming the process or any specific timeline.
The situation appears unusual when compared with other ownership changes. Sheffield Wednesday, for example, provided regular updates during its takeover before Arise Capital Partners completed its purchase on May 2, 2026.
Russell Martin was also asked about Leicester’s situation but admitted he had no information to offer, leaving supporters waiting for clarity from the club itself.
