George Hemmings is one of three players to withdraw from the England Under-20s squad ahead of their upcoming Euro Elite League fixtures in Spain.
The Aston Villa midfielder has been one of the biggest positives of the club’s season so far, making four Premier League starts and producing an impressive display during Villa’s Carabao Cup victory over Coventry City.
Hemmings has represented England at several youth levels in recent years and earned his first call-up to the Under-20 squad after making a strong impression at club level.
The team, managed by new head coach Darren Moore, are scheduled to face Italy, France and Germany in Spain.
However, Hemmings will no longer be involved after England confirmed his withdrawal alongside two other players.

A statement on the England Football website read: “Jimmy Jay Morgan (West Bromwich Albion), George Hemmings (Aston Villa) and Finlay Herrick have withdrawn from the England MU20s squad for their games in Spain .
They have been replaced by Andre Harriman-Annous (Arsenal) and Khari Ranson (Arsenal).”
No reason has been given for Hemmings’ withdrawal, but Villa supporters have little reason to panic over a potential injury. He came off the bench for the final 18 minutes of the recent victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Zion Suzuki missed Japan’s 3-1 win over Uruguay with a reported side injury but has since trained fully.
