AdminPeterborough United manager Robbie Savage has sent a confident message to his players ahead of their clash with Leicester City, insisting his side have every reason to believe they can secure a positive result.
The Posh boss has made it clear that his team will not be intimidated by the occasion or the reputation of their opponents, despite Leicester being a club with a rich history and ambitions of returning to the top level of English football.
Savage acknowledged the quality within the Leicester squad and praised their manager, but he was equally determined to remind his players that Peterborough possess the ability to compete against strong opposition.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Savage said: ‘We are not going to Real Madrid or Barcelona, we are going to Leicester City, a wonderful football club with a very, very good manager’
His comments underline the belief he wants to instil in his squad as they prepare for what promises to be a challenging test against the Foxes.
While Leicester will be expected to use their quality and home advantage to control the contest, Peterborough are determined to approach the game with confidence rather than fear.
Savage continued by emphasising that his players must focus on their own strengths instead of being distracted by the reputation of their opponents.
‘Yes they are good but so are we. Let’s go with the belief that we can win’
The Peterborough manager’s message is clear: his side will travel to face Leicester believing they have a genuine chance of producing a memorable result.
