Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has provided an update on Leon Goretzka’s availability, confirming that the midfielder will not feature in tomorrow’s match as he continues working towards full fitness.
The German international has been training with the squad, but Emery has made it clear that he is not yet ready to return to competitive action.
The Villa boss is hopeful that the player will build enough consistency in training over the coming days to put himself in contention for selection.
Speaking about Goretzka’s current situation, Emery said: “Not tomorrow (Goretzka). He is training with us on Monday & Thursday. I don’t know if he will be available on Wednesday. Hopefully, he can be ready in a few days to get this consistency of training & to be included in the squad.”
The update suggests that Villa will continue to monitor the midfielder’s progress before making a final decision on his return to the matchday squad.
Emery’s comments also indicate that the priority is to ensure Goretzka regains the necessary training rhythm before being considered for selection, rather than rushing him back before he is fully prepared.

Although the midfielder will miss tomorrow’s fixture, there remains hope that he could become available in the coming days if his progress continues as expected.
Villa will now assess his condition during the next training sessions, with Wednesday emerging as a possible date to watch, although Emery has admitted that his availability for that match remains uncertain.
For now, the focus remains on building his fitness and ensuring he is ready to contribute when given the opportunity.
