Two Premier League giants have each submitted £20m bids for the Foxes’ fan-favourite player, whom Gary Rowett is reluctant to let leave the club.

Everton and Sunderland are preparing to step up their interest in Abdul Fatawu this summer, with Leicester City open to selling the winger for a fee in the region of £20 million as concerns over relegation continue to grow.

Reports indicate both Premier League sides are ready to revisit previous approaches for the 22-year-old, who has emerged as a prominent target ahead of the transfer window.

Football Insider suggests the pair remain firmly in contention, particularly given Fatawu’s apparent reluctance to drop into League One should Leicester’s situation worsen. It is understood he would seek a move if relegation is confirmed.

Sunderland, in particular, are thought to retain a strong interest, having come close to securing his signature last summer before the player opted to remain at the King Power Stadium in a bid to help Leicester push for promotion.

That decision has not yielded the desired outcome. The Foxes remain locked in a relegation battle, sitting four points adrift of safety with only a handful of fixtures remaining. Financial pressures behind the scenes could further accelerate the need for player sales.

Despite the club’s struggles, Fatawu has impressed, contributing nine league goals and seven assists this season.

Across his spells with Leicester, both on loan and permanently, he has found the net 16 times in 97 appearances.
