That’s my final decision: Jordan James has made his final decision on his future at the club after the award given to him yesterday.

Jordan James has spoken of his ambition to achieve “big, big things” after being named Championship Young Player of the Season at the EFL Awards on Sunday evening, despite Leicester City’s deeply disappointing campaign.

The 21-year-old midfielder, on loan from French side Rennes, collected the award ahead of Derby County’s Bobby Clark, Stoke City defender Ashley Phillips and Sheffield United youngster Sydie Peck.

In a season filled with frustration at the King Power Stadium, James has been one of the few consistent positives. Injuries have interrupted his rhythm during 2026, but his influence has still stood out in a struggling side heading towards relegation.

The Wales international has made 31 appearances in all competitions, with 26 starts and 10 goals, underlining his importance in a difficult season for the club.

After receiving the award, James admitted the recognition came with mixed emotions.

“It’s been a tough season, one that we wouldn’t have liked,” he said. “On a personal note I’ve hit numbers that I didn’t think I was going to be able to hit at the start of the season.

“I had a tough period in France last season, so to be able to come back here and be able to play my best football was a real good opportunity and I thank Leicester for giving me that opportunity, and it’s been a good season.”

He added: “It’s been really good there’s a lot of top quality players in this league and they’re bound to do big, big things and hopefully I can do the same.”
