Leicester City are set to part ways with Wout Faes on a permanent basis, with AS Monaco moving to secure the defender following his loan spell in France.

The Belgian centre-back is not expected to return to the King Power Stadium, as the Ligue 1 side weigh up triggering the option included in the agreement.

Sources indicate that discussions between all parties are already in progress, with Monaco keen to finalise the transfer swiftly.

Faes, who joined Leicester with high expectations, has found more stability during his time in France, and the club are understood to be satisfied with his contributions.

For Leicester, the move represents another step in what is shaping up to be a significant squad overhaul.

Financial considerations and a need to reshape the team have placed several players’ futures under review, and Faes appears to be among those heading for the exit.

Monaco’s willingness to pursue a permanent deal suggests confidence in the defender’s ability to fit into their long-term plans. Should negotiations proceed smoothly, an agreement could be reached in the coming days.

The departure would bring an end to Faes’ spell in English football, with Leicester continuing their rebuild ahead of the new campaign.
