West Ham United head into the final day of the Premier League season knowing only a victory over Leeds United will give them any chance of survival.
The Hammers remain in deep trouble near the foot of the table, but Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Chelsea in midweek has at least kept alive their slim hopes of avoiding relegation.

Had Spurs managed to take a point at Stamford Bridge, West Ham’s inferior goal difference would have all but sealed their fate.
Instead, the equation is now simple for Graham Potter’s side. West Ham must beat Leeds at the London Stadium and hope Everton can produce a result away at Tottenham.
Ahead of the decisive encounter, defender Konstantinos Mavropanos admitted the situation facing the club is extremely difficult, while also apologising to supporters following the damaging defeat to Newcastle United.
Speaking to West Ham’s official website, the Greek international said: “It’s looking tough.
“We have to wait and see what happens in the Tottenham game, but it’s a tough situation.”
Despite the circumstances, Mavropanos insisted the squad would continue fighting until the very end.
“The only thing we can do right now is stay professional and do everything we can to win our next game.
“Again, we know the fans will be hurting because we weren’t able to do what we wanted for them today.”
Reflecting on the loss to Newcastle, he added:
“First of all, I think we have to say sorry to the fans.
“They were once again behind us, and we haven’t given them what they wanted, or what we wanted to do for this club today.
“I don’t think we started well, and we didn’t have the sort of energy that we’ve had in the last couple of months.”
