“Are you going to remain at West Ham?” 😱😱😱: Nuno Espírito Santo’s response has surprised everyone — this is the answer he gave that surprised everyone

West Ham United manager Nuno Espírito Santo has refused to discuss his future beyond this weekend, insisting the club’s entire focus must remain on Sunday’s decisive meeting with Leeds United.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Nuno was questioned on a range of issues surrounding the Hammers, including Jarrod Bowen’s omission from the England squad, the pressure of the relegation battle and whether he would be keeping an eye on Everton’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

But when the conversation turned to whether he would still be in charge next season, the Portuguese coach immediately shut it down.

“There is no other thing in our minds than this Sunday.

“All the club is focused on Sunday.

Then there will be a moment to think about it.”

It was hardly a surprising response. Few expected Nuno to reveal anything publicly with West Ham’s Premier League status hanging in the balance.

Claret & Hugh have previously reported that sources close to the club believe relegation would almost certainly bring an end to Nuno’s spell in east London.

There is also thought to be a view from his agent, Jorge Mendes, that the former Wolves boss is too established a manager for Championship football, despite speculation suggesting he could remain.

For now, though, survival is the only priority. And after the tactical errors and questionable team selection in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United, West Ham can ill-afford another costly mistake.
