Leicester City’s planned 5000-1 anniversary match continues to attract criticism from supporters, with frustration surrounding the event showing little sign of easing ahead of its staging at the King Power Stadium.

The club recently came under fire for its efforts to sell tickets for the occasion, with many fans questioning both the concept and the quality of the opposition selected for the commemorative fixture.

What was intended to be a celebration of the Foxes’ remarkable Premier League title triumph has instead become a source of division among sections of the support.

A particular point of contention has been the absence of several key figures from the club’s famous 2015/16 squad.

Supporters have expressed disappointment that title-winning stars such as N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez will not be involved in the event.

Leicester have since sought to generate excitement by confirming that club legends Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel will attend.

However, neither player is expected to take part in the match itself, a detail that has only added to the frustration felt by some supporters.
