Gary Rowett hails the Foxes star after his incredible performance in today’s game — did he deserve this praise?

the Leicester City star ‘s remarkable journey from international duty to the King Power Stadium was matched by an equally spirited display, as the striker scored twice in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw with Preston North End.

The Zambian forward travelled more than 7,000 miles from Buenos Aires, via Chile and Paris, before returning to England by car, having featured as a substitute in Zambia’s heavy friendly defeat to Argentina in the early hours of Wednesday. Barely 60 hours later, he was leading the line for Leicester.

Daka made an immediate impact, capitalising on a poor backpass to open the scoring inside four minutes. Preston responded through Andrew Moran and Ben Whiteman to lead at the interval, but Daka struck again late on, punishing a loose touch to secure a point.

“He’s been on a flight from Argentina to Chile, Chile to Paris, Paris to England, and then in a car to a training ground, then trained yesterday morning and played with that much energy,” Rowett said. “I think it was quite outstanding.

“I saw him training yesterday (Thursday) and felt as though he had good energy, so I didn’t think it was a massive problem.”

Leicester remain in the relegation zone, with one win in 14 league matches.

“It’s up to us,” Rowett said. “It’s making sure we stay united, but ultimately we’ve got to win games of football.”
