The departure of Jamie Vardy from Leicester City continues to be one of the club’s most painful and underappreciated setbacks.
While supporters and pundits rightly celebrated his extraordinary contribution to Leicester’s golden era, the practical consequences of his exit were often overlooked.

There is a strong argument that had Vardy remained at the King Power Stadium for the recent Championship campaign, Leicester may well have avoided relegation.
Even in the latter stages of his career, the striker possessed the instinct and finishing ability that the Foxes sorely lacked during crucial moments of the season. With survival ultimately decided by the finest of margins, his absence was keenly felt.
Vardy initially explained his departure as a desire for a fresh challenge, a reason largely accepted by the Leicester faithful. However, speculation surrounding the circumstances of his exit has never fully disappeared.
Questions intensified when Vardy was previously asked whether former director of football Jon Rudkin had played a role in his departure. His response — “I can neither confirm nor deny” — only fuelled further debate.
The situation gathered further attention when Rebekah Vardy was asked about a potential Leicester return. During an online Q&A, she appeared to suggest such a move would not happen while Rudkin remained at the club.
“One question asked: “Would you invite John Rudkin to a family BBQ?” Rebekah replied with: “Nope!” Another then asked whether she would invite Susan Whelan, who left her role as CEO after 15 years in October, in which she said: “Absolutely.”
