Leicester City’s goalkeeping department faces a crucial summer as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign, with significant decisions required ahead of what promises to be a defining season at the King Power Stadium.
While attention has largely focused on the managerial situation, with Russell Martin emerging as the leading candidate to take charge, questions also remain over who will be trusted between the posts.

Leicester currently have three senior goalkeepers on their books: Jakub Stolarczyk, Asmir Begovic and Fran Vieites.
Stolarczyk and Vieites are both under contract for another year, while Begovic’s current deal expires at the end of June. The club confirmed discussions over an extension are ongoing with the veteran stopper.
Stolarczyk was Leicester’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Championship last season, making 38 appearances, while Begovic featured 12 times. Vieites, meanwhile, was unable to force his way into the side.
However, neither Stolarczyk nor Begovic completely convinced during a difficult campaign. Stolarczyk’s shot-stopping came under scrutiny during Leicester’s lengthy run without a clean sheet, while Begovic also struggled to provide stability when called upon.
The arrival of a new manager could further complicate matters. Martin, for example, favours building attacks from the back, an area where Stolarczyk is not considered entirely comfortable.
With reported interest from Poland and uncertainty surrounding Leicester’s current options, the club may ultimately decide that recruiting a new No.1 goalkeeper is the best solution this summer.
