Everton’s summer transfer business is yet to get off the ground officially, but the rumour mill is already gathering pace as David Moyes looks to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign.

One name firmly on the club’s radar is Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney. The Championship Player of the Season is understood to be keen on a move to Goodison Park, although negotiations continue over the fee required to prise him away from his boyhood club.

Several players from relegated West Ham United have also been linked with the Blues. Moyes knows the Hammers squad well from his time in east London, and a number of their players fit the profile Everton are seeking this summer.

Interest has again surfaced in Tomas Soucek, while Jarrod Bowen remains a long-term admirer of Moyes, though attracting the West Ham captain would be a major challenge.

Crysencio Summerville has also been mentioned as a possible target after enhancing his growing reputation on the international stage.

Up front, Everton continue to monitor the striker market, with Taty Castellanos among the names reportedly under consideration after scoring seven goals in 22 appearances for West Ham following his January arrival.

Despite expectations that West Ham would be forced to sell following relegation, Daniel Kretinsky insists that is not the case.

He said: β€œWe have a very credible strategy. We don’t need to sell the players for financial reasons. We are doing this to make sure we are promoted back to the Premier League immediately. That is our only goal.

β€œKey players are waiting for us. They want to see there is a real chance of keeping the squad together. What matters is funding, strategy and consistency.

β€œWe have spoken to all of them. They need to see that our project is real and serious. Promotion is our only goal.”
