A former Leicester City winger is reportedly training with League One side Sheffield Wednesday as he looks to secure the next step in his career following his departure from the King Power Stadium.
The 23-year-old became a free agent at the end of June after bringing an 11-year association with the Foxes to an end.
The wide player progressed through Leicester’s academy and featured in first-team squads under Brendan Rodgers, Enzo Maresca and Marti Cifuentes.
However, opportunities proved limited, with only 10 senior appearances during his time at the club despite being highly regarded within the academy setup.
Wanya Marcal made his professional debut in Leicester’s 4-1 FA Cup victory over Watford in 2022, a match that also handed opportunities to Lewis Brunt, Will Alves and Kasey McAteer.
His only senior goal arrived in a 2-1 win over Cardiff City in August 2023 before he later dropped out of the first-team picture. He also spent a season on loan at Dutch side De Graafschap, scoring once in 14 appearances.

According to the Sheffield Star, Sheffield Wednesday have invited the Portugal youth international to train with the squad during pre-season while both parties assess the possibility of a permanent move.
Marcal is also believed to be attracting interest from several other clubs as he searches for a fresh start after leaving Leicester, following the path of former academy teammates who have already secured new clubs this summer.
