Leicester City have rejected an approach from Greek giants Panathinaikos for one of their first-team defenders, underlining the club’s reluctance to allow another senior player to leave as Russell Martin continues to assess his squad ahead of the new season.

The proposal was for a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

However, the Foxes turned down the offer, making it clear that the terms did not match the club’s valuation or plans for the player.

The player in question is Victor Kristiansen, whose future has been the subject of speculation throughout the summer.

A number of clubs have been monitoring the Danish international following an inconsistent spell at the King Power Stadium, but Leicester are not prepared to sanction a move unless the right offer arrives.

Martin is still evaluating his squad during pre-season and wants every senior player available while he implements his ideas ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The new head coach is expected to make final decisions on departures only after assessing the group over the coming weeks.

Leicester’s decision to reject Panathinaikos’ proposal does not necessarily end speculation surrounding Kristiansen’s future, with the transfer window still open and further interest expected before the deadline.

However, the Foxes have made their position clear for now by turning down the initial approach.

The original proposal was “A season-long loan with the option for a permanent move”, but City chose not to accept those terms.
