They left him out of the squad πŸ˜πŸ’”: Aston Villa have left the fans’ favourite out of the pre-season squad, signalling that he should look for another club.

Bailey’s Aston Villa future appears to be drawing to a close after the winger was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, with talks over a proposed move to Hull City continuing to gather pace.

The Jamaica international has remained in England while the rest of Unai Emery’s squad travel to Indonesia and Thailand for two friendly fixtures.

Although an agreement has not yet been reached, negotiations between the two clubs are understood to be moving in a positive direction.

Villa are due to face an Indonesian All Stars XI on August 1 before taking on GB Pathum United three days later, but the 28-year-old will play no part in either match as discussions over his future continue.

Hull have been pursuing the winger throughout the transfer window, with club owner Acun Ilicali previously fuelling speculation through a cryptic social media post featuring 11 national flags, including Jamaica’s.

At the time, he claimed the transfer was “70 per cent complete”, and talks have since advanced further.

Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and made 163 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing 25 assists. However, his influence faded after a difficult 2025/26 campaign.

A loan spell at Roma was cut short in January, but opportunities remained limited on his return, with just 452 Premier League minutes and one assist in 13 appearances.

Villa are already reshaping their squad following the departures of Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers, while Hull have strengthened after promotion.

If Bailey completes the switch, he could face his former teammates when the Tigers host Aston Villa at the MKM Stadium on September 5.
