Russell Martin has called for greater consistency from his Leicester City players after admitting he was disappointed by their performance in the first half.

The Leicester boss praised the response after the break but insisted the attitude shown in the second half must become the standard throughout every game.

Martin highlighted the importance of humility, determination, courage and fighting spirit, believing his players finally showed those qualities after the interval.

‘I said to the players the level of humility, running and courage and fight we showed in the second half we have to be there all the time’

Despite the improved display, Martin was unhappy with the goals Leicester conceded, describing them as avoidable and questioning his side’s overall desire during the game.

The manager felt there was a clear difference between the two teams, with Leicester failing to match their opponents’ hunger and intensity when it mattered most.

‘I’m disappointed with the goals we conceded because they’re really poor. One team wanted it and it wasn’t us’

Martin will now expect his players to learn from the performance and ensure the second-half reaction becomes the benchmark moving forward.

With Leicester aiming to build momentum, the manager knows his side cannot afford to produce inconsistent performances if they are to achieve their targets this season.
