Luke Thomas came under serious criticism after another disappointing performance for Leicester City in their 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion at the King Power Stadium.

The Leicester defender struggled to impose himself on the game, with Burton repeatedly finding space and creating problems down Leicester’s left side.

Thomas conceded a corner in the 23rd minute, while he was also penalised for a foul early in the match.

Although Thomas produced a dangerous cross for Harry Souttar, whose header was saved, his overall display left plenty to be desired.

He was eventually replaced by Louis Page in the 77th minute as Russell Martin searched for a way to change the game.

The defeat made an already frustrating afternoon even worse for Leicester, who found themselves 2-0 down before Wes Burns pulled one back.

Oliver Skipp’s red card added to the chaos, and the Foxes ultimately failed to complete the comeback.

For some Leicester supporters, Thomas’ performance was simply not good enough. One brutal verdict summed up the frustration: “Luke Thomas btw. Not even pub team level.”

It was a harsh assessment, but after such a poor showing, Thomas will know he must improve quickly if he wants to remain a regular part of Martin’s plans.
