🚨 Breaking News: Aston Villa have just made their final decision on Ian Maatsen’s transfer to Manchester United — this is the decision they have made.

Aston Villa have made it clear that Ian Maatsen is not for sale, despite Manchester United making an enquiry for the left-back as they desperately search for reinforcements before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

United are short of options in the position, with INEOS also considering Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly.

However, Newcastle remain unwilling to sell Hall, while Mikel Arteta has decided to keep Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal.

On August 29, transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed United had approached Villa over Maatsen, writing: “Manchester United have made an enquiry for Aston Villa defender Ian Maatsen as they search to bring in a new left-back. #MUFC #AVFC”

But the move appears dead. Sky Sports News reporter Danyal Khan reported that Villa intend to retain the Netherlands international and reward him with a new contract.

Khan wrote: “Manchester United explored potential availability of left-back Ian Maatsen but he is set to be offered a new contract by #avfc.

“Villa do do not want to sell Maatsen and is set to be offered new terms soon.

“Understand #mufc are continuing to monitor options at left-back to further strengthen before Tuesday’s deadline & ready to move if the right opportunity becomes available.

Villa have also reportedly approached United for Amad Diallo, while their pursuit of Como midfielder Martin Baturina has failed, with the Croatian set to remain in Italy.
