Jarrod Bowen believes West Ham United have finally lifted the burden of last season’s relegation after returning to the top of the Championship.
The Hammers made a powerful statement with a 6-0 victory over Wrexham, a result that capped a run of four consecutive wins and gave the squad renewed confidence after a difficult start to life in the second tier.
Bowen admitted the disappointment of relegation had placed a significant weight on the players, but believes the team can now focus fully on their promotion ambitions.
“We know what we can do in this league. The most important thing was taking that weight off our shoulders. It’s such a big weight you can carry with the disappointment of relegation. After a rocky start, we sit top of the league and we can enjoy the weekend.”

The England international was among the scorers during the convincing victory, as West Ham produced their most complete performance of the campaign so far.
With confidence growing and the supporters fully behind the team, the Hammers are beginning to look like serious promotion contenders.
However, Bowen knows there is still plenty of work ahead. West Ham will need to maintain their consistency if they are to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
For now, though, the mood around the London Stadium is considerably brighter, with the players able to enjoy their position at the summit.
