Leicester City manager Russell Martin has admitted he must accept the criticism from supporters following his side’s disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Peterborough United at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes suffered their third home defeat of the season after conceding three first-half goals, with Robbie Savage’s side producing a dominant performance to secure all three points.

Emil Riis managed to pull one back for Leicester in the second half, but the hosts were unable to mount a comeback.

The result leaves Martin’s side just one point above the League One relegation zone after eight matches, increasing the pressure on the under-fire manager.

Leicester supporters made their frustration clear during the match, with chants calling for Martin to be sacked.

However, the former Southampton boss has insisted he understands their anger and accepts responsibility for the club’s disappointing performances.

“I can’t criticise them because they’ve seen another defeat and the goals we concede,” he said when asked about the chants by supporters.

“I’m as frustrated as any of them, but if you think changing a manager is a quick fix, then I’m not sure that’s ever the way. But we have to keep working, it’s as simple as that.

“It’s our job to turn the fans’ energy ultimately, like I said, they were great when it went 3-1 today. A lot of people left because they’re feeling hurt by the first half, and so was I, but they were brilliant after that.

“So the chants are what they are, it is what it is. We have to keep our heads down, work really hard and I have to accept that, the personal stuff, because I’m in charge of the team. It’s my responsibility.”
