Absolutely devastating to hear 😭💔: This is what happened to the former fan favourite who left the club.

Wilfred Ndidi brought the curtain down on an eight-year spell at Leicester City last August, departing the King Power Stadium with his reputation firmly intact.

Signed from Genk for £15m in January 2017, he arrived as a relatively unknown quantity, though Claudio Ranieri was quick to underline his promise, saying, “He’s [Ndidi] an impressive player with a big future.”

By most measures, Ndidi justified that early faith. While Leicester ultimately took a £7m hit when selling him to Beşiktaş for £8m, his contribution on the pitch more than compensated for any financial loss. He was part of the side that lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield, and played a key role in their return to the Premier League in 2023/24.

Ndidi made 303 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 18 goals, some of them spectacular, before moving on following relegation.

In Turkey, the Nigerian international has picked up where he left off. He has featured 25 times across all competitions, operating as the anchor in a 4-1-4-1 system and offering consistent protection to the defence. His 34 interceptions lead the league, underlining his continued influence.

He has also scored twice, notably marking a goal against Goztepe with a salute in tribute to his late father.

With BeÅŸiktaÅŸ currently fourth, Ndidi appears settled, despite fleeting interest from Manchester United earlier in the year.
