I just have to change this: Gary Rowett reveals the line-up he will use for the game against Portsmouth after all the criticism he received following the defeat on Saturday.

Gary Rowett has labelled Leicester City’s trip to Portsmouth FC as non-negotiable, with his side now four points adrift of safety and the Championship season rapidly slipping away.

The Leicester City manager is prepared to sacrifice style for substance at Fratton Park, acknowledging that results, not aesthetics, will define their survival bid. With just one victory in his first ten matches in charge, the urgency is unmistakable.

Rowett admitted that a shift in approach is inevitable, pointing to the need for greater resilience after costly errors proved decisive in recent defeats, including Saturday’s loss to Swansea.

Sometimes it feels like we have to play the perfect game. That’s been the biggest challenge.

“Maybe that extra toughness in certain areas, I’m going to have to look at one or two players that might give us that, where we might not look as polished in some moments of the game but actually deal with other moments of the game better.

“That’s for me to find a balance. I’m the manager. I’ve not been in here an awful long time but I’d expect to get more results, so I can take responsibility for that.

But it’s quite difficult to win games of football when you make elementary mistakes, so that’s something we need to make sure we avoid.”

Rowett hinted that tactical tweaks may follow, though any major reshuffle could wait until Hull visit next week. Time, however, is no longer a luxury.
