AdminLeicester City’s search for a new manager appears to have narrowed to two leading candidates as the club looks to move on from Gary Rowett and begin planning for the future.
Curiously, the Foxes have yet to formally acknowledge Rowett’s spell in charge, leaving open the possibility that he could still remain under consideration.
Russell Martin has long been viewed as the preferred choice at the King Power Stadium, but the former Southampton boss has yet to commit.
His hesitation has led to growing speculation that he may be weighing up alternative opportunities, potentially with another Championship club or even a side higher up the football pyramid.
As a result, Leicester are believed to be seriously considering Rene Hake. While not necessarily a backup option, the Dutch coach represents a credible and well-regarded alternative as the club evaluates its next move.
Hake has earned a strong reputation for his tactical flexibility, combining possession-based football with an ability to adapt to more direct and counter-attacking approaches when required.
His teams are known for their organisation, defensive discipline and collective work ethic, qualities many Leicester supporters feel have been lacking.
“You can compare it to the way Ajax played under Erik ten Hag, a lot of pressing, a lot of attacking football, keen to have possession, playing a dominant way.”
The 54-year-old is also highly respected for player development and coaching detail, making him an intriguing candidate for Leicester’s rebuild.
