AdminAbdul Fatawu has revealed that former Leicester City teammate Jamie Vardy has been offering him advice ahead of Ghana’s highly anticipated World Cup clash with England.
The Black Stars face the Three Lions on June 23 in a match that could prove decisive in the battle to finish top of Group L.
Both nations opened their campaigns with victories and will be eager to take a major step towards the knockout stages.
Fatawu came off the bench during Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama and will be hoping for a bigger role against England.
Should he get the chance, the winger believes the guidance he received from Vardy could help him make an impact on the world stage.
“He’s always speaking about the game, and Vardy is one of the guys who really trusts me,” the 22-year-old told The Sun.
“He’s told me to do my thing, and that is why I can’t wait for the opportunity to show everyone what I can do.”
The pair developed a close bond during their time together at Leicester before Vardy departed the club last summer.
Fatawu, meanwhile, faces uncertainty over his own future following Leicester’s second successive relegation.
The Ghana international remains one of the club’s most valuable assets, although Leicester may be forced to consider offers.
Turkish side Besiktas and German outfit RB Leipzig have both been linked with the winger ahead of the summer transfer window.
Following the England encounter, Ghana will conclude their group campaign against Croatia on June 27.
