Breaking News 🚨: Aston Villa have just held talks with a better right winger, and he has given the green light to join the club.

Aston Villa’s return to the Champions League has brought fresh expectations, but Unai Emery knows strengthening his squad will be crucial if they are to compete on multiple fronts.

Morgan Rogers’ £116m move to Chelsea has left a significant void in attack, with Alejandro Garnacho arriving on loan from Manchester United to provide an alternative on the left.

The Argentine remains a hugely talented player, but his early Villa performances suggest there is still plenty of work to do.

Garnacho, 22, made his debut during Villa’s 3-1 victory over Indonesia All-Stars, featuring for 45 minutes.

He showed flashes of quality and linked well with Emi Buendia, but also missed a presentable opportunity and looked short of peak fitness.

After the game, Garnacho said he was “happy to be enjoying football again”, while former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag previously described him as possessing “world-class” potential.

Villa could still add another attacking option, with Football Insider reporting that Emery’s side could move for Ruben Vargas for around £17m. Brighton and Newcastle are also interested.

Vargas, 28, has impressed on the international stage and could bring greater experience and efficiency. Despite scoring only three La Liga goals last season, he did not miss a single big chance.

With Champions League football ahead, Vargas could prove a smart £17m investment.
