Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson has opened up on his distance from the club and admitted it is a shame that former players have become less visible around the King Power Stadium.
Simpson, who was part of the Leicester side that produced one of the most remarkable achievements in Premier League history by winning the title in 2016, says he has not been around the club for a long time.
The former right-back also pointed to Andy King as an exception, suggesting that very few members of that historic squad remain closely connected with the club.
Reflecting on the situation, Simpson said:
âI’ve gone nowhere near the club for a long time, and I haven’t been alone in that – bar Andy King. It’s a shame, because you don’t have to be involved in coaching, but you can be around the club, and it can help people remember what we were. And that’s not what the club is nowâ

His comments highlight the changing relationship between Leicester and some of the players who helped create the club’s greatest era.
Simpson believes former players do not necessarily need to take up coaching roles to contribute to the club.
Simply being present, he suggests, could help maintain a connection with Leicester’s history and remind supporters of the remarkable team that once represented the club.
The remarks are likely to strike a chord with Leicester supporters who remember that unforgettable period.
