Leicester City manager Russell Martin has admitted his side lacked the energy they had shown in recent matches after delivering a disappointing performance that left the Foxes with plenty to reflect on.
Martin was particularly frustrated by the manner in which his team started the game, pointing to two defensive errors that put them in a difficult position.
Although Leicester showed significant improvement after the break, the manager believes his players should have done enough to avoid defeat.
The Foxes struggled to find their rhythm during the opening stages, allowing their opponents to take advantage of their mistakes.
However, the second-half display offered some encouragement as Leicester showed greater aggression, determination and fighting spirit in their attempt to turn things around.
Despite the improved performance, Martin was unhappy that his team failed to capitalise on their momentum and ultimately allowed the opportunity to get something from the match to slip away.
🗣️ “We gave away two really poor goals and didn’t start well.

The aggression and fight from the team in the second half was so much better and gave us a real chance. But you can’t get beat from there — you just can’t.
We lacked the energy we’ve had in the last few games. We made it really difficult.”
Martin’s comments underline his frustration with Leicester’s inconsistent performances, particularly after the encouraging displays in their previous outings.
The Foxes manager will now be hoping his players can rediscover their intensity, eliminate costly mistakes and show greater consistency in their upcoming fixtures as they look to get their campaign back on track.
