Leicester City’s Championship status hangs by a thread, with the Foxes still facing a very real threat of relegation to League One with just seven games remaining.

It has been a season supporters would rather erase from memory. Following last season’s drop from the Premier League, concerns were raised over their ability to adapt to the second tier, though few expected them to struggle this badly.
As the campaign nears its close, Leicester occupy one of the three relegation spots. With Sheffield Wednesday already relegated, just two places remain contested, with Oxford United, Portsmouth, West Brom, and Blackburn Rovers all close behind.
This summer promises to be pivotal for the club, with a potential exodus of players looming. Zambian striker Patson Daka is the latest linked with a move away, reportedly drawing interest from Galatasaray as a potential replacement for Mauro Icardi, according to Turkish outlet Aspor.
Daka, one of Leicester’s top earners, joined from RB Salzburg in 2021 for £23 million, on a deal running until 2026.
In five years, he has scored 27 goals and provided 17 assists in 158 appearances, often failing to justify his fee and wages.
According to Capology, he earns around £75,000 per week. “The Foxes made the huge mistake of not inserting any relegation wage clauses,” a source noted, a lapse compounded by a six-point deduction that has left the club in financial turmoil.
A summer exit now appears inevitable for Daka, who will leave having earned upwards of £16 million but, given his impact, will be remembered as one of Leicester’s most disappointing signings.
