Leicester City’s decline has been one of the most sobering stories in English football, and on the 10th anniversary of their remarkable Premier League title triumph, they will travel to Blackburn Rovers for what will be their final Championship fixture for at least another year.
Back-to-back relegations have left the club facing League One football for only the second time in its history. The last occasion came in 2008/09, when Nigel Pearson guided the Foxes straight back at the first attempt.

Only two years ago, Leicester looked to have steadied themselves. Under Enzo Maresca, they returned from the Championship in style and lifted silverware again before the Italian departed for Chelsea FC ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Since then, instability has taken hold. Four managers have occupied the dugout, and Gary Rowett is widely expected to leave after the final game at Ewood Park.
Financial concerns have only deepened the crisis. A six-point deduction for breaching EFL profit and sustainability rules compounded matters, while a squad built for promotion instead collapsed into relegation.
Harry Winks has become one of several senior players criticised by supporters. Reports had suggested he was earning ยฃ90,000 a week, but a recent report from The Athletic indicates the midfielder earns less than half that amount.
With one year left on his contract, both player and club may now feel a fresh start is the only realistic way forward.
