Jamie Vardy has opened up on one of the darkest periods of his career at Leicester City, admitting he was close to walking away from the club and returning to non-league side Fleetwood Town.
The former England striker revealed he struggled badly during the early stages of his time at the King Power Stadium after arriving with huge expectations following his rise through the lower leagues.

Vardy admitted his frustrations began to affect his behaviour off the pitch, with his performances and attitude becoming a growing concern inside the club.
Speaking candidly about that difficult spell, Vardy said: âof course it happenedâ.
The striker explained that he even approached then-manager Nigel Pearson about leaving Leicester and heading back to Fleetwood, where he had enjoyed the best football of his career before the Foxes signed him.
âI told Nige I wanted to go back, thankfully he didnât let me. But Top told me to get my act togetherâ
Leicester chairman Top Srivaddhanaprabha and Pearson eventually stepped in to help the forward refocus, a moment Vardy now looks back on as a turning point in his career.
What followed became one of the greatest success stories in English football history, with Vardy firing Leicester to a remarkable Premier League title and establishing himself as a club legend.
