Carlos Alcaraz has reportedly opened discussions over a possible departure from Everton just months after the club made his move permanent.

It is shaping up to be another huge summer at Goodison Park following Everton’s failure to secure European football, with David Moyes expected to oversee major changes to his squad ahead of next season.

Several areas of the team are in need of strengthening, but arrivals are likely to depend on departures as the club look to balance their spending.

Alcaraz is now among the names attracting attention, with reports in Argentina claiming Racing Club de Avellaneda are exploring a loan move for the midfielder.

The 22-year-old showed flashes of quality during his first spell on Merseyside and convinced Everton to keep him permanently after contributing five goal involvements in just 16 appearances last season.

However, his impact this campaign has been far less convincing despite featuring more regularly.

Even so, allowing him to leave on loan would raise eyebrows among supporters. Everton are short of depth in attacking areas and Alcaraz’s versatility remains valuable within Moyes’ squad.

Part of the problem may stem from how he has been used this season. Last year, four of his five goal involvements came while operating in an attacking midfield role.

Unsurprisingly, his only attacking returns this season have also arrived from the same position.

“If Moyes used him in the 10 role, he will be of much more use, but if not, then an exit may make sense.”
