Douglas Luiz has made it clear that his intention is to remain at Juventus this summer after completing a second spell with Aston Villa.
The Brazilian midfielder returned to Villa Park in January for the remainder of the campaign, with injuries to Youri Tielemans and John McGinn leaving the club short of options in midfield.
Luiz joined Juventus from Villa in the summer of 2024 for £42.5 million, but his first season in Turin proved difficult as injuries and inconsistent form prevented him from making the desired impact.
The 28-year-old subsequently joined Nottingham Forest on loan during the first half of last season, but struggled to rediscover his best form before being recalled by Juventus and sent back to Villa.
Luiz immediately featured in six consecutive Premier League matches after returning, although his opportunities were reduced once McGinn and Tielemans regained fitness.
He played more than 20 minutes in only one further game before the final-day victory over Manchester City.

Winning the Europa League provided a memorable conclusion to his second Villa spell, but the club ultimately decided against activating their option to sign him permanently.
Following Juventus’ friendly victory over Nice, Luiz spoke to TMW about his future.
“Yes, that’s what’s on my mind and my first thought since coming back. My priority now is to stay here and show everything I can do, my best for this club.”
On his goal, Luiz added: “It can definitely help me. I can show the coach and the club that I can aim for the best, and I can demonstrate on the pitch why I was signed.”
