Leonardo Ulloa has opened up on his difficult relationship with Claudio Ranieri during Leicester City’s remarkable 2015/16 Premier League title-winning campaign, claiming the Italian manager treated him badly despite their historic success.
Ulloa did not hold back when describing Ranieri, saying: “Ranieri as a manager is very good. As a person, a disaster.
The former Leicester striker revealed he had received two Premier League offers while the squad was in Los Angeles, but Ranieri persuaded him to remain at the King Power Stadium.
“I told Claudio I wanted to go, but he said: ‘No, Leo. I need you. We have the Champions League, Premier League and the cups. You’ll get a lot more minutes.’”
Ulloa then questioned whether Leicester planned to sign another striker and claimed Ranieri told him they would not.
However, that changed dramatically on deadline day when the club completed a £30 million move for Islam Slimani.

“I went straight to Ranieri’s office and asked him what was going on. He told me he didn’t know and that it was the club’s decision.”
Ulloa believed the reason for keeping him became clear, with Slimani and Riyad Mahrez set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations.
“So I told Ranieri: ‘I’m not playing for you anymore. Not now, and not in December when you need me.’”
He added: “It wasn’t Leicester who treated me badly. It was Ranieri.”
