Craig Bellamy is reportedly emerging as a potential candidate to replace Nuno Espirito Santo at West Ham United should the Portuguese manager eventually leave his position.

The former Wales international, 47, is currently in the third year of his four-year contract with the national team.

However, questions had recently been raised over his future following a difficult run of results and reported interest from Burnley.

Bellamy revealed earlier this week that he rejected a lucrative offer to remain in charge of Wales, a decision that has only added to speculation over his next move.

Former West Ham defender James Collins has already backed Bellamy to manage the Hammers one day, having previously worked with him at Upton Park. The Welshman himself is also believed to be keen on taking the job in the future.

According to Hammers News, Bellamy is “highly rated inside the corridors of power at West Ham” and has privately indicated that he would like to manage the club.

His decision to reject more money elsewhere was described as a “significant detail”.

West Ham reportedly considered Bellamy when Nuno’s position was under scrutiny earlier this year.

For now, Nuno remains under no immediate pressure after turning around a difficult start. With two years remaining on his contract, promotion could secure his future.

However, should automatic promotion begin to look unlikely, the club’s hierarchy could reconsider their options, potentially bringing Bellamy’s name back into the conversation.
