Bombshell😱😱:Fabrizio Romano has just dropped an update on Nicolas Jackson’s move to Aston Villa. Here’s what he revealed:

Aston Villa are edging closer to another summer signing, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the club have reached an ‘agreement’ with Atletico Madrid for left-back Matteo Ruggeri.

Unai Emery’s side have already been busy this summer, bringing in Johan Manzambi, João Gomes, Alejandro Garnacho, Modou Kéba Cissé and Blade Earley.

However, Villa have also lost key players, including Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers, while Ezri Konsa has attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Lucas Digne is also expected to leave, with Paris Saint-Germain waiting to sign the Frenchman once Villa secure his replacement.

Pervis Estupinan had initially been considered, but that move collapsed, leading Villa to turn their attention towards Ruggeri.

Ben Jacobs first reported that Villa were ‘close’ to signing the Italian for around £17m, although personal terms remained outstanding.

Jacobs said on X: ‘Aston Villa are close to signing Atletico Madrid left-back Matteo Ruggeri for around £17m.

‘Personal terms with Ruggeri not yet in place, but the Italian is believed to be keen on the move.’

Romano later revealed: ‘Aston Villa and Atlético Madrid have agreed on €20m deal for Matteo Ruggeri.

‘The Italian left back also gave green light to the move with contract terms now being negotiated.

‘Few more steps needed then it could get done.’

Meanwhile, Villa may wait until the end of the window before pursuing Nicolas Jackson because of UEFA’s 45-day transfer rules.
