Leicester City have joined the race to sign Manchester City youngster Max Alleyne, with the Foxes exploring a potential loan move for the highly-rated defender ahead of the new season.

The 20-year-old centre-back is regarded as one of the brightest prospects emerging from Manchester City’s academy and could be set for valuable first-team experience away from the Etihad Stadium.

Leicester are understood to be monitoring Alleyne’s situation closely as they continue to shape their squad for the upcoming campaign.

The club are keen to add young talent with significant potential, and Alleyne is viewed as a player capable of strengthening their defensive options while also developing his game through regular senior football.

Competition for his signature is expected, however, with Sheffield Wednesday also showing strong interest in securing the defender on a temporary deal.

Both clubs are believed to be assessing the possibility of bringing him in before pre-season preparations gather pace.

Alleyne has impressed within Manchester City’s youth ranks over recent seasons, earning praise for his composure on the ball, athleticism and ability to read the game.

While opportunities at senior level remain limited due to City’s strength in depth, a loan move is considered the next logical step in his development.

No final decision has yet been made regarding his immediate future, but Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday are among the clubs keeping a close watch on the situation.
